The J B Boda Group was founded by our late Chairman Mr. Jagmohandas
Bhagwandas Boda, in 1943 when he set out from the small coastal
town of Porbander (Gujarat State) to Mumbai, the commercial hub
of India, to start a Reinsurance Broking operation, with his brother,
Late Mr. Dhirajlal Bhagwandas Boda joining hands with him. In those
days "Reinsurance Broking" was unheard of in India and
the insurance business of the country was in the hands of European
and American giants in the industry. His painstaking professionalism,
unimpeachable standards of conduct and reputation for fair dealing
enabled him to develop an organisation of respectable size from
a relatively modest beginning. He pioneered Reinsurance Broking
in India.
The Group is the largest and oldest reinsurance brokers in India
and the only Indian multinational reinsurance Broking house operating
for six decades. The legacy of the pioneer has stood us in good
stead. Our simple fundamental principle is SERVICE – with Sincerity,
Honesty and Integrity and this is what has given the name and the
reputation that the J. B. Boda Group enjoys in the insurance industry
today, worldwide.
Genesis and The Surge
One thing led to another and J. B. Boda & Co., started ancillary
services such as correspondents for the Shipowners’ Mutual
Protection and Indemnity (P&I) Association (SOP club), various
types of Fire, Marine and Engineering Surveys, highly skilled and
technical Off-shore surveys, Average Adjusting etc. These activities
led to opening of offices outside of the Mumbai headquarters and
now Group has 23 Offices in India and 4 Associates / Subsidiary
Companies overseas. The group in its business activities is currently
associated with over 500 companies in 67 countries of the world.
As the oldest and the largest Insurance and Reinsurance Broking
House in India the J. B. Boda Group has on its pay roll insurance
and reinsurance professionals, master mariners, licensed surveyors,
average adjusters, risk management professional, chartered accountants
and valuers.
In compliance with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority
(Insurance Brokers) Regulations, 2002, J B Boda Group has established
following companies to undertake Non-Life and Life Broking services:
